Differences between dahlias and dahlias

Differences between dahlias and dahlias

1. Physical characteristics

1. Small lily flower. The lily of the valley is relatively short, with a height of only 20 to 60 cm. Many flowers can bloom on one main stalk, and the length of the flower diameter is 5 to 7 cm. It has many colors, including deep red, purple, yellow, white, etc., and the shapes of the flowers are also quite varied. The flowering period of the lily of the valley is from July to October, and the harvesting period is from October to November. If the environmental conditions are good, the flower can bloom in all seasons.

2. Dahlia. The dahlia plant is much taller, usually growing to 1.5 to 2 meters, and is quite sturdy. Its pedicels are relatively long, usually drooping, with a width of 6 to 12 centimeters. The flower colors are usually white, red and purple. Its flower shapes are more numerous and richer than those of dahlias. Dahlias bloom from June to September and are harvested between September and October.

2. Growth characteristics

1. Requirements for lighting conditions

(1) Lilac prefers plenty of sunlight and grows best in a mild and cool climate.

(2) Dahlias prefer a semi-shaded environment. If the sunlight is too strong, it will seriously affect its flowering, especially when the seedlings are relatively small. They must not be exposed to strong sunlight, but the sunlight exposure time needs to reach 10 to 12 hours.

2. Requirements for temperature conditions

(1) The lily prefers a cooler climate and cannot withstand a very hot environment, so it grows very slowly in the summer. In addition, it cannot tolerate frost. If the temperature does not reach 10 degrees Celsius, it will stop growing. The most suitable temperature is 15 degrees Celsius to 28 degrees Celsius.

(2) Dahlias prefer cool climates, and their flowers bloom best in late September. However, they are not frost-resistant, and their stems and leaves will wither immediately after a frost. The temperature requirement during the growth period is not high and it can grow at 8 degrees Celsius to 35 degrees Celsius.

3. Requirements for water

(1) When planting lilies in pots, be sure not to allow water to accumulate, otherwise the roots will be prone to rot. The soil in the pot should not be too dry or too wet. When the plant is in bloom, water it more in summer and less in spring and autumn.

(2) Dahlias are neither drought-tolerant nor waterlogged-tolerant. When there are consecutive rainy days, the pots need to be turned over to drain water.
