Mint planting time and method What season is suitable for planting

Mint Planting Time

Mint is suitable for planting in spring and autumn. It grows well in a warm climate, so it can germinate quickly after sowing in spring and autumn. The high temperature and high humidity in summer are not conducive to the growth of seedlings, and the temperature in winter is too low, so the growth is relatively slow, so it needs to wait until spring to grow.

How to grow mint

1. Soil

Mint does not have any excessive requirements for the soil, and ordinary soil can meet its growth needs. This provides great convenience for farmers who grow mint. Both sandy loam and humus soil can be cultivated. It is most appropriate to control the pH value of the soil between 6 and 7.5.

2. Division propagation

Division is the most suitable method for large-scale propagation. First, take a relatively healthy plant as the mother plant, then spread the mint leaves on the soil surface, fertilize and water normally. Over time, the stems in contact with the soil will sprout roots. Finally, all we need to do is carefully cut open the branches of these roots so that they can be used for transplantation.

3. Cutting propagation

This propagation method mainly involves cultivating seed roots in late April. Select a branch with good growth on the mother plant as a cutting. Leave two or three leaves on it and carefully trim the rest. Be sure not to damage the branches. Then insert the prepared cuttings into the soil. The soil needs to be kept loose and moist, and soon you will see new buds growing.

Mint planting precautions

Mint is a sun-loving plant, but excessive direct sunlight will also affect its growth. Direct sunlight must be avoided in summer. You can use some places close to the wall to have a certain buffering effect on the sunlight. If it is grown indoors, it is recommended to place the potted plant near the window so that the mint can better receive scattered sunlight and absorb the most appropriate amount of nutrients.
