Is the thousand-year-old wood the same as the dragon blood tree?

Is the thousand-year-old wood the same as the dragon blood tree?

In terms of types

First of all, they are of different species, which is also the most fundamental difference. The first one belongs to the Liliaceae family, the Cordyline genus, and the second one belongs to the Agavaceae family, the Dracaena genus. Moreover, the first category includes shrubs and the second category includes trees.

In terms of appearance

The first type of plant has no branches or very few branches, the flowers are very light red, yellow or very dark green, and the shape is similar to an umbrella. The second plant is different. If you look closely, you can find that it has more branches, the flowers are white, and it has a fragrance. In addition, there are some differences in the roots of the two. The root system of the thousand-year-old tree is very developed, while the roots of the latter are not as good as it.

From the juice contained inside

This aspect is quite interesting. It is said that the liquid inside the thousand-year-old wood is colorless and transparent, while the inside of the dragon blood tree is the color of blood. Perhaps the name "dragon blood tree" comes from this.

In terms of lifespan

Many people would think that the thousand-year-old tree must have a long lifespan, otherwise why would it be given such a name? However, this is not actually the case. The dragon blood tree is a very long-lived tree that can live to be over 8,000 years old. But the lifespan of the thousand-year-old wood cannot be compared with it. How about it, very strange, right?

In terms of regional distribution

Although both plants are mainly distributed in the southern region of my country, the distribution of the Dracaena dracaena is further south, almost in the southernmost provinces of my country, while the distribution of the Dracaena dracaena is wider. Moreover, in terms of popularity abroad, the Euphratica is more popular than the Dracaena.
