How to repot flowers bought online (transplantation methods for newly bought potted plants)

Generally, when we buy flowers online or at the flower market, the flowers we buy come with simple pots. We want to change the pots for them, but since we have just started to grow flowers, we dare not change the pots for fear of killing the flowers. In fact, as long as the operation method is correct and the skills are mastered, there is no problem at all.

The first step is to slow down the seedlings

For the flowers you just bought, don't rush to repot them after you get them home . Let them grow slowly first. Especially for flowers bought online, imagine that they are transported in dark cartons for several days. When you get them home, they will definitely not adapt to the environment in your home . Therefore, we need to grow them slowly first, which usually takes about three days .

Step 2: Choose the right time to repot

When we buy flowers or grow flowers at home and want to repot them, we need to check the temperature because we need to repot them while they are growing.

If your indoor temperature is below ten degrees, it is easy for the plant to not grow roots after you change the pot. Because the soil dries slowly due to low temperature and high humidity, it is easy for the roots and leaves to rot.

Step 3: Choose a larger pot

When we grow flowers and repot them, it is not the case that the bigger the pot, the better. Many people change pots directly from a small pot to a large pot, thinking that this will solve the problem once and for all and they will not need to repot in the future. In fact, the roots of plants need to grow close to the pot wall. When the roots grow on the pot wall, its growth momentum will be stronger.

So if we use flower pots indoors, try to use smaller pots. For example, if you used a 10-centimeter pot before, you can change it to a 12-15-centimeter pot.

If you used a one-gallon pot before repotting, you should move it to a two-gallon pot. When repotting, you should use a larger pot instead of a larger one . Try to use a short pot instead of a deep pot at home.

Step 4: Prepare the soil

The so-called same soil means that when we change pots for growing flowers, the properties of the soil are similar to the soil we have prepared.

For example, if the plant is made of garden soil when you buy it, and we want to change the pot indoors and want it to grow well, we can add some river sand to the garden soil to make it more breathable, and still use garden soil.

Try to make the original soil properties as close as possible, and the roots will grow directly into the new garden soil. If it uses loose and breathable nutrient soil, we will also use nutrient soil with good air permeability, as long as the permeability is similar .

Step 5: Repotting

When we repot, we can loosen the roots at the bottom and around them appropriately. After filling with new soil, it can be fully combined with the new soil, and the root system will grow faster.

However, if the roots are damaged, you must slow down the seedlings when repotting, avoid direct sunlight, and place them in a place with diffused light and ventilation . It is best to spray water every day under the premise of ventilation. As long as new roots grow out, the plant will not wilt and will grow rapidly. This process will take up to a week .
