1. Appearance characteristics

There are records of camellia cultivation as early as the Three Kingdoms period. Today, there are more than 20,000 varieties, including 883 in my country. Wild camellia is usually single red with 6-7 petals. The cultivated varieties have double petals and triple petals. Among them, the more famous Eighteen Bachelors has about 130 petals, arranged in 18 or even 20 rounds. The flowers come in many colors, including red, yellow, pink, white, and even white flowers with red dots.

2. Growth habits

Camellia is native to southern my country and prefers a warm and humid climate. To grow it, loose and fertile sandy soil is needed, preferably slightly acidic. The temperature can be controlled between 20-32℃. Too high a temperature will stop its growth and cause burns to the leaves. Usually you need to spray water to increase the humidity of the environment to prevent the leaves from losing water due to dryness.

3. Other uses

Camellia is not only beautiful in shape, but also has edible and medicinal value. Its leaves can be used to make tea and its petals can be used to extract oil. The flower buds can be picked and used to treat coughing up blood or nosebleeds, as well as burns and scalds.

4. Top Ten Famous Flowers

Camellia won seventh place in the vote for the top ten famous flowers, which is slightly inferior to some of the more widely distributed flowers in my country. However, many cities have chosen it as their city flower, such as Chongqing, Kunming, Ningbo and other places. In addition, Yunnan has designated it as the provincial flower, which shows people's love for it.
