How to determine whether succulents are dormant

How to determine whether succulents are dormant

Method of identification

In terms of appearance, you can observe the leaves and rhizomes of the succulent. First, see if the leaves still have a bright luster, then see if there are new buds just growing at the roots, and finally see if the entire plant is dull. You can also check whether there are signs of shedding and dehydration and shrinkage. Some plants will lose part of their leaves, while others will lose all their leaves.

Judging from the growth rate, succulents that enter the summer dormancy period basically will not grow anymore, and the intuitive manifestation is that the appearance and size of the succulents will not change for a period of time. Another point is that the plant is no longer sensitive to growth after fertilization, and will be in poor condition, withering and rotting after fertilization.

The last method is that even in summer, there are times when the temperature is below 30 degrees. If there are several consecutive days of rainy weather causing the temperature to drop, the succulents will suddenly change from their usual sluggish state and gradually grow. Then the possibility of illness can be ruled out, because it must have entered a summer dormancy period due to the temperature.

The stems and leaves of succulent plants are very lush, which also creates its unique appearance and distinctive ornamental value. During the summer hibernation period, succulent lovers must summarize their breeding experience and carry out careful management.
