Lithops repotting tutorial

Lithops repotting tutorial

1. Time to change pots

The time for repotting is different in different periods. In the northern region, it can be chosen in autumn, while in the southern region, repotting can be postponed for 1-2 months. The specific time depends on the climate at that time.

2. Remove the pot and prune the roots

Do not water for a period of time before repotting, keep the soil dry, then remove the lithops from the original pot, and pay attention to ensuring the integrity of the root system during the removal process. After taking out the plant, gently shake off the old soil at the roots. After exposing the root system, use scissors to cut off the dry, old and rotten roots, and do not damage the healthy roots. After pruning, it cannot be potted immediately. It must be placed in a dry and ventilated place to dry for about 3-5 days.

3. Prepare the soil

After taking care of the root system, you can prepare new potting soil. In order to ensure the later growth, a larger flowerpot can be used to accommodate the later growth of the roots. The soil is required to be loose and breathable, and can be mixed with humus, Akadama soil, bone meal, etc. to ensure good drainage and certain nutrition.

4. Planting in pots

Fill the flowerpot with soil, then plant the roots of the lithops in it. After planting, you can pave the surface with pebbles. Then put it in a cool and ventilated place, and don't rush to expose it to strong light.
