Difference Between Palm Trees and Coconut Trees

Difference Between Palm Trees and Coconut Trees

the difference

Palm trees are relatively drought-resistant. They have a distinct straight trunk and small, light yellow flowers. The color of the ripe fruit is dark brown, and the surface of the fruit is covered with a layer of white powder. Coconut trees like to grow in an environment with plenty of sunshine, warmth and humidity. The coconut trees we know all grow on sunny coasts. Indeed, they grow better there.

Palm trees can still survive tenaciously in adverse environments. Compared with coconut trees, they do not have high requirements for soil dryness, quality, and surrounding environment. They can thrive in either acidic or alkaline soils, and can even grow in polluted environments. The main way palm trees propagate is by seeding.

Coconut trees have certain requirements for the soil, which must be rich in potassium fertilizer. At the same time, coconut trees will grow and develop well in low altitudes. If a coconut tree encounters a drought, it will take 2-3 years for it to resume normal growth, and the fruit will also be seriously affected. Temperature is also very important for coconut trees. It must be above 25℃ to ensure normal growth, flowering and fruiting. The main way of propagation of coconut trees is by sowing. It is a large plant of the palm family.

The leaves of the palm tree are dark brown. The leaves are much larger than those of coconut trees and are shaped like palms. The leaves of the coconut tree are green with a hint of yellow, and its trunk is much taller than that of the palm tree.

The fruits and leaves of palm trees and coconut trees have their own characteristics, and these two points are the easiest way to distinguish them.
