Flowering period management of Paphiopedilum

Fertilizer and water management

Apply fertilizer appropriately. During the growing period of Paphiopedilum, apply phosphorus, potassium fertilizer and an appropriate amount of nitrogen fertilizer. Nitrogen fertilizer should not be applied too much. If too much is applied, the Paphiopedilum will grow lushly, with green leaves, but will not bloom. If not enough phosphorus fertilizer is applied, the Paphiopedilum will not bloom. The editor recommends that flower lovers apply it with decomposed thin cake fertilizer water. If flower lovers have enough time, it is best to spray 1‰ potassium dihydrogen phosphate every 10 to 15 days, spraying the leaves so that they can fully absorb it.

Temperature control and shading

Since Paphiopedilum is native to low-latitude and high-altitude areas, it is not suitable for its growth in an environment with too high or too low temperatures. Pay attention to keeping Paphiopedilum warm during the winter. The daytime temperature should be around 15~20℃, and the nighttime temperature should be kept above 10℃. Paphiopedilum likes sunlight, but when caring for it, you should be careful to avoid direct sunlight. In autumn, you should block 70% of the sunlight, and in winter, you should block 50% of the sunlight to ensure its healthy flowering. Paphiopedilum likes a humid environment, but its drought resistance is relatively poor, and its flowering period is in the dry winter, so you must pay attention to keeping it moist, spray some water around the flowerpot frequently to maintain the air humidity. If the humidity is not enough, the leaves will turn yellow, which is not conducive to flowering.

When Paphiopedilum is in bloom, flower lovers should take good care of it!
