Introduction to Vanda and Chida

You may be familiar with the name " orchid", but when you encounter different types of orchids, you may not know their names very well. Next, we will introduce to you two types of orchids - Chiyoda and Vanda.

Orchids, also known as tropical orchids, have many varieties, such as Phalaenopsis, Dendrobium, Oncidium, Vanda, etc. The flowers of cattleya are very large and have a rather peculiar shape. Their flowering period lasts as long as 3 months. What is special about orchids is that they need to be cultivated on media such as bark and moss. They rarely have diseases and pests, so they are loved by flower lovers.

Vanda and Chianda are different species

Vanda is the general name for plants of the genus Vanda. There are roughly 60 to 80 species of plants in this genus, with a wide distribution range, including China, India, Malaysia, the Philippines, Hawaii in the United States, New Guinea, Australia and other places. Chiyo orchid is a hybrid of the black-bellied orchid and the vanda orchid.

The morphological characteristics of Vanda and Chida are different

Vanda is a typical epiphytic orchid; its calyx is well developed, and the two lateral sepals are even larger, which are the most conspicuous part of the whole flower, but the petals of Vanda are small, and the lip petals are even smaller; the flower shapes of Vanda are very diverse, some are recurved and twisted, and some are round and flat; the flowering period of Vanda is very long, and a flower can even bloom for several weeks in a row.

The plant of Chiyoda orchid is relatively short, about half the size of Vanda orchid; Chiyoda orchid has colorful flowers, and there are varieties of Chiyoda orchid that bloom all year round, but most of them are concentrated in spring or summer and autumn; Chiyoda orchid's color changes are also rich and diverse.
