How to keep Silver Queen in winter

How to keep Silver Queen in winter

Silver Queen should be kept indoors in winter

In winter, you can place the Silver Queen in a sunny place indoors, such as an enclosed balcony, to keep its leaves shiny and bright, and avoid the leaves becoming lighter in color and shrinking and not straight due to insufficient light, which affects its ornamental value.

The wintering temperature for Silver Queen is suitable to be above 10℃ and not lower than 5℃, otherwise the plant will be difficult to survive.

Silver Queen needs to be watered less frequently in winter

Silver Queen grows slowly in winter, so watering should be gradually reduced. Wait until the soil in the pot is completely dry and the temperature reaches above 15℃ before watering with appropriate warm water. In low temperature conditions, just keep the soil in the pot dry. Wait until the temperature starts to rise, then slowly resume normal water supply.

Silver Queen should control fertilization in winter

Fertilization is generally not required in winter. This is because the root growth becomes very slow in winter, and the applied fertilizer is difficult to be absorbed by the root system. Instead, it will have an hindering effect and even cause root rot in severe cases.

Silver Queen should be protected from diseases and insect pests in winter

If the temperature continues to be low in winter and the humidity in the potting soil and the surrounding environment is too high, the leaves of the Silver Queen will easily turn yellow and then fall off. Leaf spot and anthracnose, root rot and root nematode damage often occur. According to the specific situation, spray the pesticide in time.
