Cultivation methods and precautions of golden cherry

Cultivation method of golden cherry

soil

The soil requirements of golden cherry are not strict. Generally, loose, fertile and sandy soil rich in organic matter is preferred. Heavy clay and saline-alkali land should be avoided. The soil for potting is generally a mixture of garden soil, leaf mold, etc. with good drainage.

Light and temperature

Golden cherry likes a warm growing environment and requires sufficient light. When growing golden cherry, you can place it in a sunny place, but it needs to be avoided from direct sunlight in summer and the temperature should be kept between 15℃ and 35℃.

Watering

Golden cherry likes a humid growing environment. During the vigorous growth period and flowering period, watering needs to be increased to keep the soil moist. In spring, water more appropriately to promote the growth of branches and leaves; in summer when the temperature is high, the evaporation is large, and more watering can replenish moisture; winter is a dormant period, so water less and just keep the soil moist. Be careful not to water the leaves.

Fertilization

Golden cherry likes fertilizer. In addition to applying base fertilizer when planting, liquid fertilizer needs to be applied once every half a month. Apply concentrated fertilizer once in early spring and thin fertilizer once in autumn. Applying a thin layer of decomposed fertilizer once during the winter dormancy period will help the plants survive the winter. Note: do not fertilize during the flowering period.

Precautions for the cultivation of golden cherry

prune

Golden cherry needs to be pruned frequently. Pruning the overly long, dead and dense branches will help the growth of the golden cherry. After the golden cherry blooms, the remaining flowers and some branches need to be cut off to extend the flowering period. Trimmed into various shapes, it is more ornamental.

Reproduction

The common methods of propagation of golden cherry are sowing and cuttings. The main sowing methods are spring sowing and autumn sowing. Cutting is a commonly used method. In autumn, young branches of golden cherry are selected for cuttings.

Pests and diseases

Golden cherry may be susceptible to diseases such as powdery mildew and leaf spot, as well as pests such as red spider mites and aphids, which need to be discovered and controlled in a timely manner.
