When is the best season to plant rapeseed? When to plant rapeseed and what are the steps?

It is best to choose loose and well-ventilated soil for rapeseed planting, and keep the soil moist. Then carefully observe whether the soil is compacted, and use a hoe to trim and deep plow the land, which is conducive to the growth of rapeseed.

Rapeseed Planting Season

Rapeseed is planted in spring and autumn . Rapeseed grows in a relatively humid climate, so the spring and autumn climates are more suitable for large-scale fine planting, but with the continuous improvement of planting technology.

Greenhouse cultivation has been widely promoted now. Rapeseed cultivation is no longer limited to spring and autumn. Rapeseed can be grown in greenhouses in the cold winter. Generally, it can be grown in spring, autumn and winter . Although the cost of greenhouse cultivation in winter is higher, the income is also higher. The income from planting three crops is much higher than that from planting two crops.

Rapeseed planting method steps

There are two ways to plant rapeseed: direct seeding or seedling raising. Generally, direct seeding is chosen in warm climates, while seedling raising is chosen in cold climates.

1. Direct seeding of rapeseed

Generally speaking, it is sown outdoors in April after the beginning of spring . Use the spot sowing method, 2-3 seeds per hole, with a spacing of about 3-5 cm. As the rapeseed seedlings grow, they need to be thinned out.

The principle of thinning is to make the rapeseed seedlings evenly distributed. It should be noted that thinning should be done multiple times until it is suitable. This method is relatively simple and suitable for growing vegetables on the balcony and in the backyard.

2. Raising seedlings and planting rapeseed

First prepare a flower pot and fill it with soil, then water the soil thoroughly. Sow the seeds on the soil surface, then add a little soil to cover the seeds, not too thick. Water the soil to make it fully moist, and spray the topsoil every day to keep it moist.

Generally, it takes about 3-4 days for the seedlings to germinate. If the temperature is low, it takes about 1 week. When the seedlings grow 4-5 true leaves, they can be transplanted outdoors. The spacing is 15-20 cm.
