The breeding methods and precautions of Yanlaihong

How to cultivate Yanlaihong

soil

The red amaranth is not very demanding on the soil. Potted red amaranths generally use a mixed soil, a mixture of garden soil, leaf mold and fine sand. The soil should be loose, fertile and well-drained, and have a certain degree of alkali resistance.

Light and temperature

Amaranthus likes sunlight and needs sufficient light during its growth period to grow vigorously. Controlling the light within a certain period of time will help the formation of flower buds. In terms of temperature, the growth temperature needs to be between 18℃ and 25℃ to ensure a warm growth environment. The red-flowered amaranth is not cold-resistant and the winter temperature needs to be kept above 10℃.

Watering and fertilizing

The red amaranth requires sufficient water supply during its growth period, so watering must be controlled. Keeping the soil in the pot moist will allow the stems and leaves of the red amaranth to grow well, but it may also cause it to grow too tall. However, it cannot lack water. Although the red amaranth can tolerate drought, it cannot be too dry, as this will cause the leaves to turn yellow or even fall off. There is no need to apply too much fertilizer. Generally, enough base fertilizer is applied to the amaranth when it is planted. Fertilizer can be applied 2-3 times during the growing season to meet the needs of various growth elements.

Precautions for breeding of Yanlaihong

Reproduction method

The propagation of Amaranthus can be done by sowing or cuttings. Sowing is done in spring, and cuttings are done in a good growing season. However, the propagation amount of cuttings is small and is generally not used.

Topping

During the growth period of the red hibiscus, the tops can be pinched, and the main purpose of pinching is to have more branches. You can also pinch off the tips and let it grow freely. If the potted amaranth plants are not topped, the plant will be relatively tall, so measures need to be taken to prevent them from falling over.

Pests and diseases

The most common diseases of red amaranth are root rot and stem rot, which are mainly caused by excessive moisture. The main insect pest is whitefly, so preventive measures need to be taken.
