How to fertilize purple bamboo

How to fertilize purple bamboo

Nutrient requirements

Generally speaking, this plant mainly absorbs nutrients from the organic fertilizer mixed into the soil when we plant it. Although it needs to be fertilized afterwards, it does not dominate and only two to four times a year is needed. Therefore, special attention needs to be paid to the soil during planting. However, if the soil is not properly treated, we need to apply fertilizer to remedy it.

What fertilizer to use

It does not have too many requirements for fertilizer, and can use urea (0.5 percent concentration) or compound fertilizer (1 percent concentration). In addition, there is a more natural option, which is the water used to wash rice or meat, which can make the leaves greener and the stems shinier.

How to fertilize

In spring and summer, because the growth is relatively fast, you can add fertilizer once each season. However, if the soil is poor and cannot meet the vigorous needs of the plants, the frequency can be increased appropriately, but not too much.

In autumn, the plants may be in the sprouting stage, so liquid fertilizer also needs to be applied.

As for winter, plants basically have no need for fertilizer.

Precautions

We talked about the concentration of fertilizers used above, and it can be seen that no matter what fertilizer it is, the concentration is very low. Therefore, we must remember one principle: the concentration must not be too high. A low concentration can be compensated by increasing the number of times, but if it is too high it will damage the plants.

Another point is to make sure the various elements of the fertilizer are balanced. For example, if we only focus on the N element, the plants may grow too tall. So, we should pay attention when choosing the type of fertilizer.
