Cultivation methods and precautions of small lilies

Cultivation methods and precautions of small lilies

Farming methods

soil

Potted lilies require a suitable medium. You can mix garden soil, coal slag and fine sand to make the medium, or you can add some leaf mold. Spread broken tiles at the bottom of the flowerpot as a drainage layer, then put in the medium and add some base fertilizer appropriately.

Light and temperature

The growth of lilies requires sufficient light. The daily light should not be less than 6 hours. It should not be over-shaded to avoid poor growth. In spring, autumn and winter, the lily can be exposed to direct light, but in the hot summer, try to avoid direct light and place it in a bright place for maintenance. In terms of temperature, the lily prefers a cooler environment and is afraid of heat. When the temperature is high and the sun is strong in summer, it is necessary to provide appropriate shade or spray water to cool it down. It is also not frost-resistant and will go dormant when the temperature drops below 10°C. The suitable growth temperature for lilies is between 15℃ and 28℃.

Water and fertilizer management

The requirements of the lily of the valley for water and fertilizer are not high. Generally, water it more in the summer and less in the spring and autumn. Keep the soil in the pot neither dry nor wet, avoid water accumulation in the pot, and pay attention to drainage in the rainy season. When fertilizing, apply enough base fertilizer when planting. During the growth period, apply thin liquid fertilizer every 10-15 days. When flowering, apply some 1%-3% potassium dihydrogen phosphate to promote flowering.

Precautions

Pruning

During the cultivation of lilies, pruning can be carried out to control the flower shape and promote flowering. During the growing period, frequent pinching can make the lily have more branches and denser branches. During the growth process, you can cut off some dead leaves and diseased leaves to promote the healthy growth of the lily.

Reproduction method

The propagation of lilies is mostly by division and bulb division, but it can also be propagated by cuttings.

Pest control

Diseases and pests of lilies are not common, but there are dangers such as powdery mildew, brown spot disease, viral diseases and borer larvae, which need to be discovered in time and prevented and controlled early.
