When does Lithops bloom?

When does Lithops bloom?

How long does it take for it to bloom?

Generally, Lithops will bloom after 3 years of growth. Most varieties usually bloom around October , and some will bloom in June. Some varieties, such as c188 , can bloom on their own two-year-old seedlings. Of course, whether or not the flower blooms is related to many factors in the early stages. It may be that the nutrient supply is insufficient during the differentiation period of flower buds or the environment is not suitable, so the flower will not bloom. Of course, if the flower is too long and the pedicel cannot be stretched out, it will remain silent and not bloom.

After flowering, what should we pay attention to if we want to collect seeds?

Generally speaking, Lithops blooms at three or four in the afternoon because it wants to avoid the midday sun and reduce transpiration. If two lithops have the same flowering period, they can be pollinated. Each flower has a flowering period of about six days, and the pollen is generally mature in about three days. In order to ensure successful pollination, we still need artificial pollination. If there are no flowers blooming at the same time, we can collect the pollen from the flower that blooms first and store it in the refrigerator. After the second flower blooms, we can use the pollen from the first flower to pollinate. If there are two flowers with similar flowering periods, the earlier one will wait for the later one, and the later one will catch up. This is also their self-adaptation to nature.
