Breeding methods and precautions of money bag

Soil selection

Because of its origin, the money bag has developed a strong drought resistance, so the soil requirements are not very strict, as long as it is loose and breathable. Do not use on highly sticky soils.

Lighting requirements

From late spring to mid-autumn festival, the money bags should be placed indoors or in a shaded environment, ensuring 50-70% shade. When caring for it indoors, you need to be careful not to provide excessive shade, otherwise the new branches and leaves will be slender and darker in color, the distance between the leaflets will be larger, the plant will be sparse, and the shape will not be compact and beautiful.

In winter, move the money bag indoors in time. Pay attention to supplementary light, place it on a warm south-facing balcony, and maintain it in sunlight all day. Because the leaves of the money tree have no obvious phototropism, there is no need to worry about the money tree growing crooked due to different light angles during its growth process.

Water requirements

In order to maintain the money bag well, try to create a moist and dry environment. For indoor breeding, when the temperature reaches 33°C, water should be sprayed once a day to increase humidity and reduce temperature. In spring, summer and autumn, the soil should be kept slightly moist and dry. Occasionally, add some fertilizer and water in a thin layer, and the roots will basically not rot.

After Mid-Autumn Festival, reduce watering, or spray water instead of watering to ensure that the new leaves can safely survive the winter. In winter, pay attention to spraying water on the leaves and the environment to ensure that the indoor humidity is above 50%. Special attention should be paid to the fact that the soil in the pot should not be too wet in winter, but should be slightly dry. Otherwise, in low temperatures, it is easy to cause the roots of the money tree to rot, and in severe cases, it may even die directly.

Fertilization method

Normally, special fertilizer for foliage plants or decomposed liquid fertilizer should be applied every two weeks during the growing season. Choose appropriate fertilizer according to different varieties. However, it should be noted that for variegated varieties, the amount of nitrogen fertilizer applied should be reduced to avoid reducing or even eliminating the patterns on the leaves.

After September, stop fertilizing to promote lignification of branches and ensure their safe wintering.

Repotting method

The money tree is generally repotted every 2 to 3 years. When repotting, choose a potting soil that is fertile, loose, and rich in humus. Must have good breathability. After repotting, place it in a cool place for a week, stop watering, and perform normal maintenance after a week.

Precautions

Pay attention to ventilation

Growing money vine indoors is different from growing it outdoors. If the ventilation is not good, it will easily cause the leaves of the money vine to wilt. It may not die immediately, but the leaves will fall off one by one. If it is not remedied in time, it will slowly die.

Watering Problems

Most of the money vines are grown in large pots with more and deeper soil. It often takes a long time for the soil to dry up after watering. At this time, you need to pay special attention to watering and do not water it if it is not dry. Otherwise, overwatering can easily cause root rot and eventual death! So before watering, be sure to check the dryness of the soil in the pot. If it is not dry, don't water. Just spray water normally!

Temperature control

Beautiful plants are all a little delicate, and the money tree is one of them. The most suitable temperature for the growth of money purse is 15~30℃, of which the temperature from April to October is 20~30℃, and from October to April of the following year it remains at 13~20℃. In summer, when the temperature exceeds 32℃, it is necessary to cool down and ventilate in time; in winter, the temperature cannot be lower than 10℃. If the temperature can be maintained above 20℃, the stems and leaves can still grow normally.
