How to cultivate fairy finger

Watering

Watering management during flowering period

From around the beginning of spring to early summer is the season when the fairy finger blooms and grows modified stems. Due to the long flowering period, large amount of flowering, and dry indoor air, it is necessary to water it once a week with water close to room temperature. Just keep the soil slightly moist, but not too wet. Spray water on the modified stems once a day or every other day at noon, until there are small water droplets on the stems and leaves but no dripping.

Post-flowering management

After the flowers fade, when the stems and branches begin to grow new leaves, water and fertilizer management should keep up. Water once every 3 to 5 days. It is best to keep the soil in the pot slightly moist but not waterlogged. Spray water on the stems and leaves every other day or every 2 days.

Fertilization

Fertilization management during flowering period

Every 10 days, add two or three drops of flower nutrient solution or a trace amount of potassium dihydrogen phosphate to the spray water. Because the cactus has many flowers and a long flowering period, a small amount of fertilizer can be applied during flowering. Phosphorus and potassium fertilizers are preferred, and nitrogen fertilizers alone should be avoided.

If the stems and leaves are thin, shriveled and drooping, you can spray water on them once a day or every other day. Add 2 to 3 drops of flower nutrient solution or 3 or 4 grains of urea when spraying water every 10 days or so. The growth will resume in about 2 months.

Post-flowering management

Fertilize once about 10 days after the flowers fade. The first two times should be mainly nitrogen fertilizer, and then apply compound fertilizer or nutrient solution mainly composed of phosphorus and potassium. Adhere to the frequent application of thin fertilizer until the new leaves stop growing at the end of June or mid-July.
