How to grow tiger flower

Cultivation medium

The best cultivation medium for tiger face flower is slightly acidic soil that is fertile and loose, rich in organic matter, well-ventilated, and has strong water and fertilizer retention capacity but no water accumulation. It is generally prepared with leaf mold, peat soil, and coarse sand in a ratio of 2:1:1, and decomposed cow dung or chicken manure is used as base fertilizer.

Temperature and light

Tiger flower likes high temperature, humid semi-shady environment, has strong cold resistance and avoids direct sunlight. The growth temperature is 17-30℃. It can safely overwinter above 5℃ and can withstand short-term low temperatures of 0℃. Pay special attention to shading during summer cultivation and management. The shading rate needs to reach 50%-70%, otherwise the leaves will turn yellow easily. In winter, it should be cultivated in a greenhouse or other insulation measures should be taken.

Watering and fertilizing

Tiger face flower has relatively high requirements for water and is not drought-resistant. The air humidity should be maintained at a high level during the growing season, but water accumulation should be avoided, otherwise it will cause root rot. Generally water once a day. Apply foliar compound fertilizer once a week during the growing season, preferably applying thinly and frequently. Applying more nitrogen fertilizer will help the leaves remain green, but the leaves will become brittle. When applying fertilizer, do not spray water directly onto the leaves, otherwise it will easily cause leaf rot in high temperature and lack of ventilation. In addition, it should be noted that the tiger flower's demand for fertilizer is closely related to the temperature. Generally speaking, if the ambient temperature is higher, more topdressing can be applied, and if the ambient temperature is lower, less topdressing should be applied.

Reproduction method

Tiger face flower can be propagated by sowing, division, cutting and tissue culture.
