Single-petaled kerria

Deutzia odorata is a deciduous shrub, 1-2 meters high, rarely up to 3 meters; the twigs are green, cylindrical, glabrous, often arching, and the young branches are angular.

The single-petaled Deutzia flower has single petals, only one layer, borne at the top of the current year's lateral branches, and the pedicels are glabrous; the flower diameter is 2.5-6 cm; the sepals are ovate-elliptical, acute at the apex, with a small tip, entire, glabrous, and persistent in fruit; the petals are yellow, broadly elliptical, with a concave apex, and 1-4 times longer than the sepals.

The flowering period is from April to June, and the fruiting period is from June to August.

Deerberry

It is a variant of the single-petaled Deutzia, a deciduous shrub, 1 to 1.5 meters high, with green, striped, slightly zigzag branches.

The leaves are triangular-ovate, gradually pointed at the apex, nearly rounded at the base, 2 to 5 cm long, with heavily serrated edges, bright green on the surface, pale on the back and slightly hairy.

The flowers are golden yellow, borne on the side branches, double in shape, with overlapping petals, and a diameter of 3 to 4.5 cm. The flowering period is from April to May, and the achenes are brown-black.

It is mainly distributed in southern China, with wild species found in Hunan, Sichuan and Yunnan. It grows in hillside bushes at an altitude of about 200-3000 meters. It is also distributed in Japan.

White kerria

Deutzia glabra, Rosaceae, genus Deutzia, also known as: Deutzia glabra, triangle grass, mountain gourd seed, double pearl mother, water hyacinth stem.

A deciduous shrub with opposite, round to slightly cordate leaves with sharply serrated edges and sparsely pubescent upper surfaces when young. Flowers are bisexual, with single flowers borne at the top of new shoots. There are four obovate, white petals.

There are 1-4 drupes, which are obliquely oval, black or brown, smooth, and bloom from April to May. Fruiting period is from June to September.

The root can be used as medicine: it has the effect of nourishing blood and benefiting the kidneys, and is mainly used to treat blood deficiency and kidney deficiency.
