When does iris bloom?

Flowering period

The flowering period of morning glory is from early July to late September, which is a very long period. In Anhui, Hubei and Hunan areas of my country, the flowering period of morning glory can be from April to November every year. When morning glory blooms, it blooms every day, opening in the morning and withering in the afternoon.

After flowering, morning glory will produce seeds, and the fruit matures from September to November.

Flowering form

When morning glory blooms, the inflorescences are axillary, and the flowers are solitary or clustered. The pedicels are very long, mostly longer than the leaves, and can reach up to 10 cm. The flowers are erect, with sepals that are green, slightly unequal in length, elliptical to oblong-spatulate, with the outer one slightly shorter, blunt at the apex, and a small tip. The corolla is saucer-shaped, dark red, glabrous, slightly swollen at the top with a distinct depression, and the petals are five-lobed. When blooming, the flower looks like a red five-pointed star, with a funnel-shaped tube, protruding stamens and pistil, and white anthers.

Generally speaking, when morning glory blooms, it produces several small star-shaped flowers with bright deep red color. In addition to red, there is also white.

Flower Language

The flower language of morning glory is busyness, mutual care, and mutual dependence.

Among them, the feather-leaved morning glory also has its own flower language - love and freedom.

Precautions

After flowering, morning glory will bear fruit. The capsule is oval, 7 to 8 mm long, with 4 chambers and 4 petals, the septum is persistent and transparent. There are 4 seeds, which are ovate-oblong, 5-6 mm long, and dark brown.

To make morning glory bloom more, you can plant it in fertile soil in a sunny place. You can also apply more fertilizer so that it can grow more luxuriantly and bloom more.

After the morning glory flowers fade, you can pick off the remaining flowers in time to prevent them from setting seeds, so that the nutrients can be concentrated on new branches to bloom, thus extending the flowering period.
