How to grow white clover

soil

It has low requirements for soil, especially clay and acid-resistant soil. It can also grow in sandy soil with a pH value of 5.5~7, or even 4.5. It prefers weakly acidic soil and is not tolerant to saline and alkali. A pH value of 6~6.5 is beneficial to nodule formation.

Light and temperature

Light: White clover is a long-day plant and is not shade-tolerant. The number of flowers can be increased if the sunshine exceeds 13.5 hours. White clover likes open areas with plenty of sunlight and has obvious phototropism, that is, the leaves can move with changes in weather, time of day, and the angle and position of the light source.

Temperature: It has a certain degree of drought resistance and will not wilt at high temperatures of around 35°C. The optimum temperature for its growth is 16~24°C. It likes light and will grow luxuriantly in sunny places with strong competitiveness.

Water and fertilizer management

Watering: White clover is more drought-resistant but less tolerant to waterlogging. The plant grows vigorously when there is sufficient water. When there is drought, water should be replenished appropriately. When there is too much rain, drainage should be carried out in time to facilitate growth.

Fertilization: White clover has small seeds, grows slowly in the seedling stage, and has weak resistance. Therefore, it is necessary to apply a certain amount of base fertilizer when sowing. Calcium, magnesium, and phosphorus fertilizers are all fine, or wood ash is also a very good fertilizer.

Reproduction method

White clover is generally propagated by sowing.
