Pineapple Growing Conditions

Pineapples prefer warm environments and are relatively drought-resistant, but they still need a certain amount of water for their growth and development. Pineapples originally grew in semi-shaded tropical rainforests and are relatively shade-tolerant. Pineapples have a wide adaptability to soil and are best planted in loose, fertile, well-drained soil.

Pineapple Planting Climate and Temperature

Pineapples prefer a hot and dry environment. The most suitable growth environment is an annual average temperature of 24-27 degrees. They can grow in the range of 15-40 degrees. The growth is slow below 15 degrees, and they basically stop growing below 10 degrees. Frost damage will occur below 5 degrees.

Suitable areas for pineapple cultivation

Pineapple is cultivated in about 61 countries and regions in the world. In addition to China, it is also cultivated in large quantities in Mexico, the Philippines, Thailand, the United States, Brazil, Malaysia, etc.

Pineapple planting time

There is no fixed planting time for pineapples. In areas suitable for planting, they can be planted all year round except for certain periods of extremely high and low temperatures. It is best to plant them from March to September each year.

Benefits of pineapple cultivation

Pineapples can bloom and bear fruit one year after planting. Generally, the yield per mu is about 3,500 kilograms. The price of pineapples on the market is between 3-8 yuan. Calculated at 4 yuan, the income per mu is 140,000 yuan. Excluding costs, the profit is about 9,000 yuan. The output will increase in the following year, and the income is stable and considerable.
