The difference between creeping vine and sedum

Creeping sedge

Crassulaceae is a perennial herb of the Crassulaceae family. It has creeping stems and is easy to root. It generally grows in moist places such as crevices between rocks on hillsides, beside ravines, and by rivers. It is very easy to cultivate and has no strict requirements on the environment. It can be planted in front of or behind houses, or in potted plants. It is usually propagated by division. The flowering period is May to June, and the fruiting period is July to August.

The creeping grass is a commonly used medicinal herb that is widely circulated among the people. The whole plant is used as medicine, which has the effects of clearing away heat and detoxifying, reducing swelling and promoting diuresis, discharging pus and promoting tissue regeneration.

Sedum

Sedum, also known as Sedum sedum, Buddha's nail, and half-branch grass, is a perennial herb of the genus Sedum in the Crassulaceae family. The flowering period is from April to May, and the fruiting period is from June to July. Sedum is a succulent plant with a very high water content. The cuticle of its leaves and stems has an extraordinary ability to prevent water evaporation.

Sedum has strong adaptability to growth and is cold-resistant, drought-resistant, saline-alkali-resistant, barren-resistant, and disease- and insect-resistant. It has juicy stems and emerald-green leaflets that are neat and beautiful. It can be appreciated as a potted plant or planted as an outdoor ornamental ground cover. At present, major cities mainly use it for roof greening. Its good drought resistance, cooling and water-saving effects have been confirmed, showing good market prospects.

Sedum has the effects of clearing heat, reducing swelling and detoxifying. Treat sore throat, carbuncle, furuncle, erysipelas, burns, snake bites, jaundice, and dysentery.

the difference

The reason why some flower lovers cannot tell the difference between creeping sedge and Sedum is that the flowers of both are yellow, the flower shapes are very similar, and the colors are bright and brilliant.

Then the only things that can be distinguished are the leaves.

Compared with Sedum, the leaves of Sedum sphenanthera are wide and flat. The leaves of Sedum are narrow and a bit round. Without further ado, here’s the picture to prove it!
