Primrose Pest Control

Primrose Pests - Long-tailed Mealybug

Symptoms

The long-tailed mealybug harms many types of flowers, including primroses. It uses the thorns of adults and nymphs to suck the sap from the stems and leaves of primroses, which has a great impact on the overall development of the primroses.

Prevention and treatment methods

If the amount of long-tailed mealybug infestation is small, we can scrape it off manually, or use white wine to disinfect and brush it off. During the period when nymphs are hatching rapidly, spraying 1000 times of carbofuran can kill a large number of long-tailed mealybugs.

Primrose-Red Spider

Symptoms

Red spider mites are also called cotton red plants, and their scientific name is spider mites. The body color of adult red spiders varies greatly, being generally red with black spots on both sides of the back of the body; the young mites are nearly round with black spots on both sides of the body, and the nymphs of red spiders have four pairs of legs.

Red spider mites like to live in a hot and dry environment. The high temperature in summer will cause them to reproduce rapidly. Red spider mites mostly harm the back of leaves, causing serious damage. There are obvious blocks of pigment on the sides of its body. Red spider mites damage the stems and leaves of plants during the breeding period and reproduce through the stems and leaves.

How to prevent and treat

To prevent and control red spider mites, scrape off the bark and destroy them in batches before they hatch during the winter. Applying lime water on the tree trunks can kill a large number of insect eggs. In addition, in early spring, you can turn the soil and remove weeds in the field so that the red spider mites cannot find food, causing them to gradually die.
