How to grow osmanthus tree well

How to grow osmanthus tree well

1. Provide water appropriately

First, water the leaves appropriately. Remember the principle of not watering unless the soil is dry, and watering to the bottom. Water the leaves every day. In the hot summer, you must water the plants in the morning and evening to prevent them from running out of water. In the winter, you need to water the plants around noon. The temperature of the water should be close to the temperature of the soil, and it should not be hot or cold. Be careful not to allow water to accumulate in the pots.

2. Timely supplement of fertilizer

Reasonable fertilization, for the purpose of viewing flowers, should be given sufficient fertilizer. When new branches sprout, urea can be applied 1 to 2 times. After the flower germination period and before flowering, phosphorus fertilizer should be used mainly. The soil should be dry before using fertilizer. It is best to make the soil loose so that the flowers can absorb it better. Water it again after one day.

3. Change pots and soil on time

Every 2 to 3 years, you need to change the pot and add new soil, and remove some old and withered roots to avoid the loss of unnecessary nutrients. A layer of carbon slag or roof tiles can be placed at the bottom of the flowerpot to facilitate ventilation and drainage. Oil residue cake can be put in as basic fertilizer, and the soil can be spread evenly when repotting.

4. Trim it into a good shape

Pruning and shaping generally adopts a combination of qualitative and repair methods, which is best carried out after autumn. For trees with poor shape, most of the top branches can be cut off at 2/3 or 3/4. Plants with too many branches also need to be thinned out. After the flowers bloom, the old, weak, and sick branches need to be cut off.

5. How to take care of it during the winter

Then for wintering management, the indoor temperature should be kept between 0 and 5 degrees Celsius, and the humidity should be kept between 50 and 80%. In winter, indoor light exposure is very important, especially in early spring before the seedlings recover. Plenty of sunlight is needed for moving the potted plants out of the house in late spring of the following year.
