How to grow lettuce in pots

As the weather gets warmer, cold dishes become one of people's favorite foods. Lettuce is undoubtedly the simplest salad. So how should we grow potted lettuce at home?

Growth temperature

Lettuce likes a cool environment. Don't keep it in the house and ventilate it frequently. The most suitable growth temperature is 15~20℃. The sowing temperature should also be controlled within this range. If it is higher than 25 degrees Celsius, the growth of the seeds will be inhibited, and if it exceeds 30 degrees Celsius, they will not germinate.

Lettuce has strong cold resistance and can withstand low temperatures for short periods of time. It grows healthily when the winter temperature is 12 to 13 degrees Celsius.

Growth humidity

The soil needs to be kept moist during the growing period of lettuce, not too dry. The main valuable part of lettuce is the leaves. Sufficient water can ensure that the leaves are green and shiny. Especially when the lettuce is mature, it needs more water to ensure that the leaves are green and can be picked in time.

Usually water once every 2 to 3 days. In hot weather, water once in the morning and evening. Water frequently with small amounts of water. Do not water the day before harvest.

Pest control

The home planting environment is worse than the natural environment, including poor ventilation and watering, which can cause diseases and pests. Common pests and diseases include: aphids, soft rot, and viral diseases. Remove diseased plants promptly when the disease occurs. It is recommended not to spray pesticides for home cultivation. Just throw them away if they are sick.

Avoid planting too densely, improve ventilation, and keep the planting environment clean to effectively prevent the occurrence of diseases and pests.

Editor's suggestion

Lettuce has a strong growth ability and can be picked and eaten about 40 days after sowing.
