When and how to sow carnations

When and how to sow carnations

1. Sowing time

If you want to know the time to sow carnations, you must first know the temperature suitable for seed germination. Carnation seeds are most likely to germinate at a temperature of 20℃. Therefore, the sowing time is different in different regions. In southern my country, it is recommended to do it in spring, and in cold areas it is recommended to do it in August-September. The temperature should not be too low or too high when sowing, and sowing must not be carried out in summer.

2. Sowing Method

1. Potting soil: Before starting sowing, you should prepare the pots first. It is best to use a pot with drainage holes. You can buy nutrient soil directly from the flower shop, place it in the pot and wait for sowing.

2. Sowing: Try to use a toothpick when sowing. Dip the toothpick in water to stick the seeds on it, and then place it in the soil in the pot. The depth of the soil should be about 2-3 times the diameter of the seeds. Don't plant too shallowly. Note: Try not to sow seeds with your hands to avoid the seeds getting moldy.

3. Maintenance: After sowing, you can cover it with an opaque plastic bag, which is very helpful for seed germination. Moreover, it can reduce water evaporation. After germination, you need to place it in a brightly lit location and transplant it when the seedling grows two true leaves.
