How to cultivate the bird's nest

How to cultivate the bird's nest

Soil selection

When planting Crassula ovata in potted plants, it is best to use a mixture of leaf mold and garden soil, add a small amount of river sand, and then add some compound fertilizer or cake fertilizer. Ensure that the soil has a certain degree of water retention and good air permeability.

Temperature requirements

The most suitable growth temperature for the Crane's Palm is 15℃ ~ 32℃. It is afraid of high temperature and stuffiness, and will enter a dormant state when the temperature is above 33℃ in the hot summer. Avoid cold and frost. The temperature in winter needs to be kept above 10℃. It will enter a dormant state when the temperature drops below 7℃ in winter. If the ambient temperature is close to 4℃, it will die from frostbite.

Lighting requirements

The Crane's palm likes the sun. If there is insufficient light, it will easily lead to dampness and heat, root rot and leaf loss. However, the extreme heat and strong sunlight in summer are not good for the growth of the plant. In winter, the flower pot should be moved to a sunny place in the shed to keep its leaves green. If there is sufficient sunlight, a hint of red will appear on the leaves of the Crassula ovata, and the red and green combination looks very beautiful.

Watering requirements

From spring to autumn, the Kusanagi plant can be watered once every 1 to 2 days, and water accumulation in the pot should be avoided. In the hot summer, when the temperature is above 30℃, the plants are in a dormant and semi-dormant state, and watering should be controlled at this time. At the same time, pay attention to spraying the surrounding area frequently to cool down, pay attention to ventilation, and try not to spray water on the leaves. Don't expose it to the sun immediately after watering! As winter approaches, you should reduce watering frequency and keep the soil in the pot slightly dry.

Fertilization requirements

The bird's nest plant does not require much fertilizer and water, and sometimes it is no problem to control the water and fertilizer. Fertilize according to the growth of the plant. If the growth is weak, apply liquid fertilizer containing potassium or add a thin layer of decomposed cake fertilizer water once a month during the growing season. If the plant wilts due to fertilization, stop fertilizing immediately.
