What to do if the leaves of Christmas cactus become soft

What to do if the leaves of Christmas cactus become soft

1. Reduce light

Reason: Christmas cactus likes to grow in an environment with scattered light and is afraid of being exposed to the sun. If you place it in a place with strong sunlight for a long time, the leaves will become soft.

Solution: You need to place it in a cool place for maintenance in time, and open the windows appropriately to ensure air circulation. Spray water on the leaves more often to prevent this from happening again.

2. Pruning the root system

Cause: The yellowing of Christmas cactus leaves may also be caused by root rot. If the interface between the roots of the plant and the soil turns yellow and soft, it means that root rot has occurred.

Solution: Remove the plant from the potting soil, cut off the rotten roots with sterilized scissors, and then replant it.

3. Reduce watering

Reason: If you water the plant too much during its growth period, the roots of the plant will be immersed in water for a long time. Over time, the roots will rot and the leaves will become soft.

Solution: Place it in a well-ventilated place as soon as possible, water it appropriately, and do not allow water to accumulate in the soil. In addition, during the rainy season, you should take shelter from the rain to avoid getting wet.

4. Dormancy

Reason: Christmas cactus grows very slowly when it is dormant, and its leaves will become soft and wilted.

Solution: It is normal for this phenomenon to occur during the dormant period. Just reduce watering and maintain normal maintenance. Be careful not to have excess water in the soil.
