How to grow torch flower

How to grow torch flower

Farming soil

Torch flowers are mostly grown in the field or in pots. When potting, choose a sunny place that is sheltered from the wind. Before planting, the soil needs to be deeply plowed and organic fertilizer applied. Potted plants require deep, fertile, and well-drained sandy loam.

illumination

Torch flower likes warm and well-lit environment. If the potted torch flower is placed in a cool place for a long time, the leaves will turn yellow or even wither due to insufficient light.

temperature

Torch flower is relatively cold-resistant and can overwinter in temperatures above 5°C.

Watering

Torch flower needs long-term watering and fertilization to grow, otherwise it will grow slowly. When dividing in autumn, apply more basal fertilizer before division and pay attention to replenishing the plant's nutrition to ensure that it can overwinter normally. In dry areas during winter and spring, water thoroughly before freezing and cover the plants to prevent frostbite and death.

Fertilization

When the torch flower grows flower stems, foliar fertilizer of potassium dihydrogen phosphate should be applied 2-3 times at a concentration of 0.1%, once every 1-2 weeks; or 2% superphosphate should be used as soil fertilizer to increase the firmness of the flower stems and prevent them from bending.

prune

After flowering, the withered branches should be cut off as soon as possible to prevent them from bearing fruit, so as to avoid the gradual loss of nutrients.

Diseases

Rust is the main disease of torch lily. In the early stage of rust, it can be controlled by spraying lime-sulfur mixture.
