What are the legends and meanings of the ground lotus?

1. The flower language and meaning of ground lotus

The flower language of the ground lotus is noble and elegant, everything goes well, and it has a beautiful meaning of sacredness and peace. This is because the appearance of the ground-growing golden lotus resembles the lotus platform under the Buddha's seat, so it is designated as one of the "Five Trees and Six Flowers" by Buddhist temples. It has the meaning of noble, sacred, simple and elegant, which is also the origin of the name of the ground-growing golden lotus. In Dai culture, it is also the embodiment of kindness and the symbol of punishing evil.

2. What is the legend of the Golden Lotus?

According to legend, when the Buddha was born, every time he took a step, golden lotus flowers would grow under his feet. These lotus flowers were actually ground-emerging golden lotuses. Every time the Buddha preached, he talked about "flowers falling from the sky and golden lotuses emerging from the ground". The golden lotus under the Buddha's seat was also referring to the golden lotuses emerging from the ground.

Later, the Golden Lotus from the Ground became the lotus under the feet of not only the Buddha and many other Buddhas, but also the lotus under the feet of Bodhisattvas. Moreover, the Golden Lotus from the Ground only appears when the Buddha preaches or displays his supernatural powers. The sacred objects placed in Buddhism on a daily basis are ordinary lotuses, symbolizing the Dharma, purity, and compassion that forgives all sins.

Finally, I would like to introduce to you the "Five Trees and Six Flowers" of Buddhism. The five trees are the Bodhi tree, the palm tree, the banyan tree, the betel nut and the sugar palm. The six flowers are the Burmese osmanthus, the lotus, the Crinum orchid, the turmeric flower, the frangipani and the ground lotus. The ground lotus is the lotus platform under the Buddha's seat, which shows that its status is extraordinary.
