How to grow kumquat in spring

How to grow kumquat in spring

1. Appropriate lighting

In spring it needs the help of plenty of light to grow well. If it stays in a very shady environment for a long time, the branches and leaves will grow too long, affecting flowering and fruiting. Generally speaking, the sunlight in spring is not too strong, so try to get as much sunlight as possible.

2. Proper pruning

Spring is a good season for pruning, and it is best to prune before the plants sprout. Only keep the older, stronger, and more evenly-proportioned branches, and cut off other unsuitable ones, such as diseased, insect-infested, dry, dense, and overgrown branches. And the buds on the branches also need to be dealt with, leaving two or three buds on each branch.

3. Appropriate amount of fertilizer

Spring is a period of vigorous growth, so use fertilizer appropriately. Generally, fertilizer can be applied once a week to ten days, and the water used can be decomposed thin sauce residue.

4. Appropriate amount of water

Its growth cannot be separated from water, but it is afraid of waterlogging, so while it should be watered in time, it should not be too wet. If it is too dry, spray some water.

5. Repotting

You can change the pot in spring and mix new soil with leaf mold, sandy soil and cake fertilizer in a ratio of 4:5:1, which has a good effect. The roots can be trimmed while repotting.
