Tips and methods for attracting bees

Many people are very concerned about the issue of luring bees. When local bee resources are sufficiently distributed, it is relatively easy to trap bees. Here are some tips and methods for attracting bees.

Tips and methods for attracting bees

1. Beehives to attract bees

For areas with nectar sources, bees will collect a large amount of nectar and breed a large number of new bees. At this time, the bee colony will be crowded and there will be sufficient honey , so the bees will naturally swarm. For example, around the Qingming Festival, bees can be lured at this time. Prepare the decoy beehive, clean it, and apply beeswax on it. Place the decoy beehive where the bees may build a nest. Let the scout bees find the decoy beehive and attract the bees to move in. This is a good way to lure bees when there is a nectar source.

2. Honey disc to attract bees

If there is no nectar source outside, the bees will collect less honey and hatch fewer new bees, so the bees will not swarm naturally at this time. However, bees have a huge pursuit of nectar sources, so you can use honey discs to lure the bees. Prepare honey with a good fragrance and add some beeswax. Let the smell attract the attention of scout bees. Then observe the direction of the scout bees' flight and keep moving the honey disc until you track the bees' nest. This is a better way to lure bees when there is no nectar source.

3. White sugar to attract bees

Use a bowl to fill a 1:1 ratio of white sugar water and put it into the beehive. It would be better if you can add a small amount of honey. Put some dry wood or foam on the white sugar water. The purpose is to allow the bees that come to eat the sugar water to have a place to stay without drowning. Then go to the wild to catch five or six collecting bees and put them in a bait beehive for an hour or so before releasing them. When the honey has had enough sweet soup, it will call its companions to have more sweet soup. From now on, feed him 200-300 grams of sugar water every morning. Every day a large number of bees come to eat the sugar water.

Things to note when attracting bees

1. Bee luring time

There are two things to pay attention to when choosing the time to lure bees. The first is the season when the bee colonies swarm. Bees can only be trapped when the bee colonies swarm, which is usually in spring and autumn. Second, when there is a lack of nectar sources in the wild, it is also difficult to trap bee colonies even if the nectar sources in the wild are abundant. The best time is in late spring and early summer when the first nectar source ends, that is, May to June, and September to October in autumn.

2. Location of bee traps

Generally, we choose places that are sheltered from the wind, facing the sun, quiet, open and have obvious landmarks, such as at the junction of hills and plains, under large protruding rocks on the mountain, under dead trees and old eaves. In summer, you should choose a cool and ventilated place. The most important thing is to have a place where scout bees frequently come and go. If there are no scout bees visiting, no matter how good the place is, you cannot trap the bees.

3. Other matters

When placing a beehive, be careful to protect it from rain. If it is too humid, it will not attract bees, and even if you attract bees, they will run away. After placing the beehive, do not check it frequently or move around nearby, as this can easily scare away the bees.
