When does white orchid bloom?

When does white orchid bloom?

1. When to grow flowers

It generally blooms in summer and autumn every year. The further south it is located, the earlier it blooms. If it is planted in Shenzhen, you can see its flowers in midsummer. It blooms for a long time, even lasting for a month. In daily life, be careful not to plant it in a too wet depression. If there is no drought, there is no need to water it manually. Fertilization should also be moderate.

2. How to help it grow flowers

1. Topping

If you want to move it out of the greenhouse, it is best to do it during the period from the Spring Equinox to Qingming Festival, preferably when it is cloudy or overcast. Wait for it to adapt to the outdoors for two or three days and then remove the old leaves, leaving only a few young leaves on the treetops. After the flowers fade, some old leaves should also be removed to help new branches and buds grow. During its growth period, it is necessary to pinch it frequently to help it eliminate its apical dominance.

2. Add fertilizer

This is a relatively important link. Because it takes a long time to bloom and the number of flowers is relatively large, it needs to be given enough nutrients regularly. In addition to adding enough base fertilizer when potting it, it is also necessary to add liquid fertilizer rich in phosphorus and potassium once a week during the flowering period. You can apply a smaller amount of fertilizer first, and then a more concentrated amount. Do not add raw fertilizer to it, otherwise the roots will be burned.

3. Watering

It has fleshy roots, so it needs water but is also afraid of water. Water it once a day from early summer to late autumn. Keep the soil moist. If it is the dog days of summer, you should water it once in the morning and evening. At the same time, you also need to sprinkle water on the leaves and the ground to provide sufficient humidity. If it is tap water, you need to be careful as it may cause soil alkalinization. In seasons with heavy rain, do not let it accumulate water, otherwise the roots will rot.

4. Lighting

It is a positive flower and needs plenty of sunlight. It should be placed in an area where the sunlight is long and strong enough, especially during the long flowering period, when it needs more light. It cannot be given less than 6 hours of light every day. If it is often placed in a dark area, it will only grow leaves but no flowers, or there will be very few flowers.
