How to Eat Custard Apple

How to Eat Custard Apple

Selection

Sugar apple is a fruit that can be eaten directly. After removing the skin, you can taste the delicious flesh. There is one thing you should pay attention to when buying sugar-apples. If the sugar-apple feels not soft but very hard, it means that the sugar-apple is not fully ripe. It will taste better if it is left for a while. If it feels soft, you can eat it directly.

Gnawing

First, break the sugar apple open. It will naturally split into two halves along the lines. You will see the flesh in front of you. There are some black seeds inside the flesh. These seeds are inedible. You can eat the flesh directly with your mouth or dig it out with tools. It is very easy to eat.

Knife cutting

If you are more concerned about aesthetics, you can use a knife to cut the fruit into squares, pick out the seeds, pour the pulp into a bowl, and taste it piece by piece with a bamboo stick. If you feel that it is not satisfying to eat it this way, you can also cut it into pieces with a knife and eat it in big bites like watermelon.

Other ways to eat

In addition to eating the flesh directly, sugar apple can also be made into juice for drinking. This juice, with a little honey, can also beautify the skin. In the hot summer, you can also make delicious sugar apple smoothies, which taste sweet and refreshing and are perfect for quenching thirst and cooling down. At the same time, in Taiwan, you can eat fried rice made with sugar apple pulp, which tastes quite good. If you also want to try it, you can also make it at home.
