Seed propagationThe most suitable time for sowing is spring. Bury the seeds of spider plants in the soil. However, because the seeds are relatively small, do not cover them with too thick soil. Bury them shallowly, generally 0.5 cm is enough. Then water it, being careful to keep the soil moist, but be sure not to let the seeds soak in water. It is best to control the temperature at 15℃. In this case, the seeds will germinate in about one or two weeks, and can be transplanted and cultivated after the seedlings are formed. Propagation by divisionThis method is more troublesome and requires lifting the spider plant out of the pot. Pay attention to maintaining the integrity of the roots, removing old soil and rotten roots, cutting off the old roots, leaving three stems on each separated plant, and then transplanting them separately for cultivation. You can also cut off the clustered stems and leaves on the spider plant's runners and plant them directly in the pot. Cutting propagationThis is a relatively simple method with a high survival rate and is the most commonly used method. When taking cuttings, cut off the stolons that are growing more vigorously and have new buds, about 5-10 cm, and insert them into the soil. They will take root in about a week, and can be transplanted into a flowerpot for cultivation in about 20 days. Remember to water them thoroughly, and then put them in a cool place to complete the reproduction of the spider plant. Chlorophytum is one of the more common household plants. It is mainly propagated by the above three methods: sowing, division, and cuttings. I hope this will be helpful to everyone. |
