Sorghum is an important food security crop in many developing countries because of its drought and barrenness tolerance. At the same time, sorghum is also one of the important economic crops in the world. Sorghum has a well-developed root system that helps retain soil and improve soil structure. Sorghum straw can be used to make brooms, weaving materials, etc. So how many times can sorghum be planted in a year? How many times can sorghum be planted in a year? Sorghum can be planted once a year. Sorghum is an annual herb with a growth cycle of about 100 days. Depending on the climatic conditions in different regions, sorghum is generally planted in spring and matures and is harvested in autumn. Since sorghum is not suitable for repeated cropping, it is usually planted only once a year. Therefore, sorghum can only be planted once a year. Sorghum Planting Conditions 1. Temperature conditions The suitable temperature for germination of sorghum seeds is 20℃ ~ 30℃. They are resistant to high temperature, waterlogging and saline-alkali. Seedlings usually emerge 3-4 days after sowing, and the temperature suitable for sorghum germination is generally 20-30℃. 2. Soil conditions Sorghum is not selective about soil, but if you want high yields, loose, well-drained loam or sandy loam is best. Sorghum is resistant to drought, flood, saline-alkali and barrenness, and can be planted in low-lying and easily flooded land and barren, arid and saline- alkali land. 3. Moisture management The water requirement of sorghum accounts for a certain proportion of the total water requirement during the entire growth period, about 10% in the seedling stage, about 50% in the jointing and heading stage, about 15% from heading to flowering stage, about 20% in the filling stage, and about 5% in the maturity stage. Sorghum is drought-resistant, but jointing, heading, and flowering are critical periods for water demand. In case of drought, areas with conditions should irrigate in time. 4. Fertilizer requirements Sorghum likes fertilizer, has a strong ability to absorb fertilizer and is very sensitive to fertilizer. It needs to be fertilized reasonably according to its different growth stages. To produce 100kg of sorghum grains, 2.6kg of nitrogen, 1.36kg of phosphorus and 3.06kg of potassium are needed. 5. Seeding requirements The sowing depth is generally 3 to 5 cm. Sowing too deep or too shallow is not conducive to germination. The sowing amount varies according to the purpose of use, variety and sowing method. The ordinary grass sorghum is sown at 7 to 10 kilograms per mu. In short, sorghum is generally planted only once a year. These conditions jointly determine the growth conditions and final yield of sorghum. When planting, appropriate adjustments should be made based on the specific local climate and soil conditions.
