Corydalis yanhusuo has been used to treat diseases a long time ago. According to popular legend, there was a blue-gray mountain in the Jiangsu and Zhejiang areas in the late Tang Dynasty, on which many Chinese herbal medicines that could cure diseases grew all year round. The mysterious and rich green mountains always exude a strong attraction, attracting one herbalist after another into the mountains to search for them. There was an old man who lived at the foot of a mountain. He made a living by collecting herbs in the mountains all year round.

One day, on the way to the mountains to collect herbs as usual, it had just rained and the mossy mountain road was slippery. The old man who was collecting herbs accidentally slipped and fell, and passed out. The old man’s children had not seen him return for a long time, so they went into the mountains to look for him. Finally, they found the old man collapsed on the mountain road. Seeing this, his children and grandchildren hurriedly woke him up.

As soon as the herbalist, who was covered in injuries, woke up, he immediately pointed to a plant nearby and told the children to dig out its rhizomes. For some reason, the children just did as he was told. The old man took the bulb and chewed it immediately and swallowed it.
