Diseases and their control of Patchouli

Root rot

The disease mainly occurs during the rainy period in summer. The symptoms are that the roots and rhizomes of the plant first rot, then gradually spread to the above-ground part, causing the cortex to turn brown, and finally causing the plant to wither and die.

Prevention and control methods: Burn the diseased plants in a concentrated manner, sprinkle lime on the diseased holes for disinfection, or apply 500 times diluted 50% carbendazim to water the diseased holes.

Fusarium Wilt

The disease often occurs from mid-June to early July, and is initially manifested by drooping leaves and leaf tips, and finally root rot and death of the entire plant.

Prevention and control methods: Remove and burn diseased and damaged plants in a concentrated manner to eliminate overwintering pathogens; dredge ditches and drain water in time after rain; spray potassium dihydrogen phosphate on the leaves in combination with spraying to improve the disease resistance of the plants; in the early stage of the disease, spray 500 times of 50% carbendazim, or apply 800 times of 50% thiophanate-methyl, or use 500 times of 40% carbendazim suspension to water the diseased holes and the roots of adjacent plants to prevent spread.

Brown spot

This disease is a fungal disease that mainly harms the leaves of Patchouli. It usually occurs in May and June, and is particularly serious during the rainy season. The symptoms are the appearance of nearly circular spots on the leaf surface, which are light brown in the middle and dark brown on the edges, and light black mold grows.

Prevention and control methods: Remove and burn the diseased leaves, apply Bordeaux mixture, or spray 500 times diluted 64% alum wettable powder and other agents for corresponding prevention and control.

Leaf spot

Symptoms include polygonal spots on both sides of the leaves, which are initially about 1-3 mm in diameter. The leaves turn yellow and in severe cases the spots merge, causing the leaves to die.

Prevention and control methods: In the early stage of the disease, spray 1000 times diluted 50% Ridomil once every week, and spray 2-3 times in a row.
