Can geraniums be repotted in summer?

In summer, geraniums grow very slowly and have poor rooting ability, so it is not suitable to repot them . If you want to repot them, only do so when they are completely rotten or have serious leaf rot. Repotting is only a way to save them. If they are in good condition, repotting will only increase their burden and cause health problems.

How to repot geraniums

You can choose to mix the culture soil of geraniums yourself, which is a mixture of 3 parts humus and 1 part leaf mold. The original potting soil is not suitable for use. The culture soil and the original clay pot must be exposed to the sun for disinfection before use.

When potting, you should appropriately cut off the dense and long roots and fibrous roots, but you cannot water or fertilize immediately after planting. It usually takes about a week to wait.

Things to note when repotting geraniums

1. Geraniums prefer dryness and avoid water. If the temperature is too high in summer, geraniums will enter a semi-dormant state. Watering should be strictly controlled to ensure that the soil in the pot is not too dry. At the same time, it is advisable to water them in the morning and evening. Do not water them when the temperature is high at noon.

2. When repotting geraniums with flower buds, try not to completely remove the original soil, and damage the roots as little as possible. The soil quality of the new soil should be similar to that of the original soil, so that the plants can adapt to the pot quickly and grow new roots.
