Can the fruit of Podocarpus be eaten?

Can the fruit be eaten?

The fruit of Podocarpus is not poisonous, and its pulp is edible, but it has a light and slightly sweet taste. The more mature it is, the sweeter it is.

The fruit of Podocarpus is divided into two parts. The upper "round bald head" is a lateral ovule, while the lower "body" is actually the receptacle, which is fleshy. The seeds contained in the aril of Podocarpus fruit are poisonous and therefore cannot be eaten, but the fleshy seed receptacle can be eaten.

The seed receptacle of Podocarpus is green at first, then gradually turns yellow, and then from yellow to red. The fruit is purple-red when ripe, and the seed receptacle tastes a little sweet.
