The language and legend of Hibiscus

The language and legend of Hibiscus

Hibiscus Flower Language

Delicate beauty, chastity, purity, precocity, and the sorrow and longing of a couple who are separated forever. The petals of Hibiscus are stacked layer by layer, as delicate and beautiful as a young girl, and as intellectual and mature as a lady. After blooming brilliantly, they will wither without hesitation, representing their changeable personality. Children who are blessed with this flower are mostly precocious, so it also has the meaning of precocity. In addition, in Chinese cultural tradition, hibiscus refers to beautiful women. It is used to express appreciation for women and symbolizes the beauty and purity of women. Another flower language of Hibiscus is to express the pain of longing between a couple separated.

The Legend of Hibiscus

Legend 1

Legend has it that a woman couldn't believe that her husband had died at sea, so she squatted on the beach every day waiting for her husband to come back. One day she saw his face emerging from the sea, but when she looked closely, she realized it was a tree on the shore, so she mistook the tree for her husband. People named it "Furong", which later evolved into "Hibiscus".

Legend II

During the Tang Dynasty, there was a landlord in Nankang who had only one daughter named Furong. She was very beautiful, and the landlord wanted to find a good marriage for Furong. However, when Furong was 16 years old, she fell in love with Alai, her family's 18-year-old poor farmhand. The two of them secretly fell in love and never let each other down. But when the landlord found out, he was furious and forcibly separated them. Furong would rather die than give in, and Alai was very moved. The landlord had no choice but to give up, but the next spring when the river water rose, the landlord suddenly had a bad idea. He pretended to let Alai go north with him to transport timber, saying that he could gain experience and come back to prepare for his and his daughter's wedding. Alai was very happy and agreed to go forward, but on the way, the landlord pushed Alai into the river... After the landlord came back, he arranged a good match for Furong. Furong knew that Alai was dead, and on the day of her wedding, she rushed out of the sedan chair and jumped into the river to follow Alai. The next year, a tree grew on the bank. It bloomed in November, first turning red, then pink, and finally white. The flowers fell into the river and were carried away by the current. People believed that this was the soul of hibiscus, so they named it hibiscus.

These are the flower language and legends of Hibiscus. I hope everyone has a better understanding of Hibiscus.
