How to care for the newly bought golden edge spider plant

How to care for the newly bought golden edge spider plant

1. Soil

It has low requirements for soil quality, as long as it is loose sandy soil, it can be mixed with some garden soil, river sand and leaf mold. This kind of planting soil has good air permeability, strong drainage ability, and the soil contains humus from river sand and leaf mold, and is also very nutritious. It is generally not necessary to change the soil when you first buy it.

2. Environment

When you first buy it, you need to provide it with a comfortable environment and good indoor ventilation. It can grow normally in a place with bright light. If you want it to grow faster, you can expose it to more sunlight, but be sure to avoid direct sunlight in summer. The only temperature requirement is that it must spend the winter at a temperature above 10℃. Normal room temperature can meet its temperature needs at other times.

3. Watering

After placing it at home, don't water it thoroughly the first time. It will take some time for it to resume its growth rate. The water demand is not high, so just water it a little to keep it moist. During the growing season, you should increase the watering frequency appropriately. In summer, you can spray more water to increase humidity. In winter, you should pay attention to watering less to prevent water accumulation and root freezing and rot.

4. Fertilization

No need to fertilize when you first buy it. After it has fully adapted to the environment, it needs to be fertilized once every 2 weeks during the growing season. If it grows slowly, you can add 20% more fertilizer each time. If you don't fertilize correctly, the leaves will lose their bright green color and the leaf tips will turn yellow and dry out. It is best to spread a thin layer of fertilizer on the bottom as base fertilizer when repotting, as fertilizer before the growing season.
