Why do Anthurium leaves produce oil?

Why do Anthurium leaves produce oil?

1. Normal phenomenon

Reason: The oil secretion from the leaves of Anthurium may be a normal and natural phenomenon. There are oil gland spots on the surface of the leaves, which are converted into energy through photosynthesis, naturally producing the oily feeling.

Solution: This is a normal phenomenon, no need to worry, just ensure daily maintenance.

2. Suffering from pests

Cause: If there is an oily, gelatinous substance on the leaves, it may be due to insect infestation, that is, aphids are causing the problem. After being infected, aphids will secrete some substances. These secretions are colorless but relatively sticky. If this is the case, you need to take appropriate measures in advance. Otherwise, if it continues for a long time, aphids will absorb the juice inside, causing the leaves to lack water, and the entire plant will be affected.

Solution: After the pest is discovered, it needs to be dealt with in time. You can use omethoate, cypermethrin, and phosmet to spray. It needs to be sprayed 2-3 times in a row, with an interval of 7-10 days.

3. Bruised and swollen

Reason: It is also possible that the leaves of Anthurium are bruised, which will affect the leaves and cause a layer of oily substance to flow out of the leaves, which is its own secretion.

Solution: In this case, no special treatment is needed, just continue to maintain it carefully.
