Matrix selection

In fact, when it comes to the hydroponics of peacock plant, it is not completely separated from the soil. Usually the chosen mixed matrix is perlite: vermiculite in a ratio of 1 : 1 or perlite: peat: slag in a ratio of 1 : 1 : 1 : 1 .

Hydroponic plants

When hydroponically cultivating the peacock plant, you must choose a small, strong, soil-grown plant. Note the key word "small". If the plant is too large, it will be difficult to choose a hydroponic container, and it will be easy to fall over and difficult to maintain.

Hydroponics Method

First, take out the plants grown in soil and clean the roots with clean water. Try not to leave any dirt, otherwise the water will become turbid for a certain period of time and it will take a long time to become clear.

Then spread a layer of expanded clay at the bottom of the pot as a drainage layer, then place the seedlings, add the prepared substrate until the pot is 80% full, compact it with your hands, and finally add another layer of expanded clay on top of the pot to prevent algae from growing after sun exposure and washing away the substrate or knocking down the seedlings.

There is also a simple method. When dividing in spring and summer, select a cluster of plants with 5 to 9 leaves, wash off the soil, remove rotten roots, and soak them in a high manganese potassium solution for about 10 minutes.

Peacock arrowroot hydroponic care

Spray water in time

The hydroponic peacock plant will curl a little at the beginning. Place it in a cool place sheltered from the wind first. After the peacock plant adapts, maintain it normally. Spray the leaves in time and change the water every 1 to 2 days. The leaves will gradually return to normal and new roots will grow after 10 days.

Add nutrient solution appropriately

When the peacock plant has fully adapted to the water environment, you can add a small amount of nutrient solution and replace the nutrient solution every 3 to 4 weeks. There is no need to change the water frequently. Just make sure the water level in the container does not drop and replenish water in time.
