How to rejuvenate Cymbidium orchids and toothpick seedlings

How to rejuvenate Cymbidium orchids and toothpick seedlings

1. Deep planting

If you want the Cymbidium to recover faster, you should plant it a little deeper, and the soil should cover the rhizome, usually one or two centimeters above the rhizome. This way, when the new roots grow out later, they can absorb enough nutrients to promote faster growth.

2. Suitable planting materials

The planting material must be loose, permeable, breathable and rich in fertility. It can be mixed with humus and coarse particles. Only with sufficient nutrients can it grow more vigorously.

3. Apply fertilizer at the right time

Don't rush to apply fertilizer after planting, especially when new roots and new shoots are growing. At this time, the nutrients contained in the soil can meet the growth needs and no fertilizer is needed. Because the root system's absorption capacity is weak at this time, fertilizing can easily burn the roots and cause fertilizer damage. Just let it absorb nutrients from the soil on its own to ensure vigorous growth. When the new seedlings grow to 15 cm, fertilize them in time and apply thin fertilizer frequently for supplementary fertilization. Fertilizers can be selected from a small amount of urea fertilizer and triple fertilizer. Note that pure nitrogen fertilizer cannot be applied.

4. Water appropriately

Cymbidium likes a humid environment, but is not tolerant to waterlogging. When watering, you must pay attention to controlling the amount. Keep the soil slightly moist during the growing season, control water in autumn and winter, and water only when the soil is dry. If the amount of water is too much, you need to ventilate more, loosen the soil frequently and drain water to avoid root rot.

5. Suitable lighting

When you first plant the plants, don't rush to expose them to the sun. Slowly expose them to light a week after planting. Usually you can place it in a place with scattered light and let it bask in the sun. Sufficient light can promote the plant to accumulate nutrients, which is beneficial to its growth. If there is a lack of light, the leaves will turn yellow and growth will be hindered.
