Why the leaves of Areca palm dry up and what to do after they dry up

1. Improper watering

Reason: It likes a humid environment. If it is not watered for a long time during management, the soil will be dry, and the plant will lack water and its leaves will easily dry and turn yellow. On the contrary, if you water too much, water will accumulate, which will hinder root breathing and cause root rot, and the leaves will dry up and fall off.

Treatment method: If there is a lack of water, water it with clean water as soon as possible to make the soil moist. If there is water accumulation, cut off the water supply first. Move the plant to a ventilated and well-lit place, and loosen the soil frequently to allow the moisture to evaporate, and it will recover soon.

2. Too much fertilizer

Reason: Although it needs nutrients to grow, if too much is applied or the fertilizer used is of high concentration and not fully decomposed, it will cause fertilizer damage, burn the roots, and the leaves will turn yellow, dry up, and fall off.

Treatment method: If you apply too much fertilizer, dilute it by watering, and make sure the fertilizer liquid is drained out. If the fertilizer damage is already very serious, it is recommended to remove the plant from the pot. Trim off the bad roots, disinfect them, replace them with new soil, and replant them in the pot.

3. Too much light

Reason: It prefers semi-shady environment and is not resistant to sunlight. If it is placed in direct sunlight for a long time, especially under the scorching sun in summer, the leaves will definitely be sunburned, and yellow or dry leaves will appear.

Treatment method: Remove the dry leaves in time, move it to a semi-shaded place, water it frequently, and let it recover for a while. Note that you must avoid strong light in the later stage.
