Mint is a well-known plant that not only relieves throat discomfort and freshens breath, but also grows mostly by the river. It is now also widely cultivated on a large scale as a medicinal material. Many people use balcony potted plants at home and pick and eat mint whenever they want. Below we will learn the methods and precautions for growing mint. 1. Select seeds Select mint varieties with vigorous growth, strong disease resistance, high essential oil content and pure fragrance for summer breeding. Before sowing, use the new lipid film to mix the seeds, which can prevent infection by underground pests and viruses, while enhancing seed respiration and improving germination rate. 2. Determine the breeding time Mint is usually propagated when the first batch of mint grows to the bud stage. In the south this is usually around June, and in the north around July. 3. Land preparation and fertilization Choose land with higher terrain, good drainage, deep soil, loose and fertile soil, preferably sandy loam, and carry out fine cultivation. While preparing the land, apply sufficient base fertilizer, 3,000 to 5,000 kilograms of soil and miscellaneous fertilizers and 50 kilograms of nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium compound fertilizers per 667 square meters, and spray disinfectants and 800 times diluted new lipid film to disinfect the soil. 4. Breeding method There are two common methods of propagation for mint: cuttings or rhizomes. ①Propagation by cuttings. Use the first batch of mint stems, cut them into 30 cm long segments, and plant them on the prepared bed surface with a row spacing of 30 cm × 5 cm. ② Rhizome propagation. After the first batch of mint is harvested, the underground rhizomes are dug out and planted in rows with a spacing of 30 cm x 5 cm. 5. Field management ① Watering After planting mint, keep the soil moist and water it regularly. Spraying 800 times diluted new lipid film can effectively reduce water evaporation, shorten the seedling acclimatization period, and promote mint rooting and emergence. ②Weeding Before the mint seedlings emerge, use 100 grams of herbicide mixed with 60 kilograms of water and 800 times the liquid of new lipid film per 667 square meters and spray evenly to effectively prevent and control a variety of weeds. After the mint seedlings have all grown, the weeds that have not been removed can be pulled out manually. ③ Topdressing Spray the mint with Zhuangjingling in time during the growing period to promote the thickness of the plant stems and the thickness of the leaves. Top dressing should be applied once the mint seedlings are 10 cm tall, with 10 kg of urea and 5 kg of potassium dihydrogen phosphate applied per 667 square meters. ④ Pest and disease control The main diseases of mint include leaf spot and rust, which should be controlled by conventional methods in the early stages of the disease. The above are the mint planting methods and field management techniques. I hope it will be helpful to friends who are planting mint.
